Bright Young Things
WUP has recently employed two new members of staff.
Rosalind Mann has been unearthing evidence, pulling it together and interpreting the results ever since she graduated with a degree in Archaeology and Geography from Manchester University. She went on to gain a Masters degree in Heritage Management before taking on a custodial role at Speke Hall in Liverpool.
It was after a conversation with a careers consultant that Rosalind started to think that market research might be a way of bringing together her analytical and creative sides, and since then she has acquired substantial experience in market intelligence and customer insight roles in a broad spectrum of industries.
Rosalind joined WUP in September 2007 and is responsible for tester and respondent facilitation, and for interpreting research outputs.
If market research helps a business understand what the customer wants, then usability testing identifies what stops them getting it. Rosalin Mann
Tasin Reza gained his first degree in Computer Science at the North South University in Bangladesh, where he became particularly interested in web based software. During his degree he was employed part time providing IT support to a UK based purchasing conglomerate who then offered him full time employment as a Senior Software Engineer designing user interfaces and evaluating software for redesign issues.
Tas as he is better known, went on to study for an MSc in Human Communication and Computing at Bath University. His thesis involved developing a prototype early warning system for patients vulnerable to heart attack which detects irregular ECG signals and sends an SMS message via the mobile phone, alerting both the remote hospital and the patient.
It was when WUP made a presentation about usability testing at Bath University that Tas first became aware of their work. He was impressed by the unique user experience focus that is behind WUP’s philosophy, so he was delighted when they offered him the opportunity to join the team in October 2007. He now specializes in information architecture and wireframe development.
At WUP what we do is get the evidence of what website users really want from a website, as opposed to what the website provider thinks they want, and that makes sense. Tasin Reza
