Real insight from people with lived experience of disability and neurodivergence.

Why do inclusive user testing?

Digital services should work for everyone. Testing with disabled and neurodivergent people shows how your service performs for people with different access needs.

It helps you:

  • Identify real-world barriers
  • Understand how assistive technology is used
  • Create more inclusive experiences, not just tick compliance boxes

Disabled people are a significant market, with over £80 billion in UK disposable income. Inclusive design benefits everyone and improves business performance.

We recommend testing with disabled users after completing usability testing and an accessibility audit. This ensures major issues are already resolved, making sessions more focused and respectful for participants.

How we do it

We apply the same user-centred, tailored approach used in all our research.

Planning

We work with you to define research goals, choose assistive technologies to include, and agree on participant numbers. Every project is bespoke.

Recruitment

We recruit participants ourselves to ensure:

  • They match your brief
  • They are treated ethically and respectfully
  • A mix of visual, motor, auditory, cognitive impairments and neurodivergence is represented

Our network includes experienced testers who use a wide range of assistive tools.

Testing sessions

Sessions last about an hour to allow time for setup and testing. Participants use their own tools such as:

  • Screen readers like JAWS
  • Magnifiers like ZoomText
  • Speech recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking

We use open, non-leading facilitation and a think-aloud approach to capture behaviour and feedback. You are welcome to observe live or recorded sessions.

After testing, we hold a debrief to review findings and agree next steps.

What you get

You receive clear, actionable insight that leads to real improvements.

  • Prioritised issues and fixes based on user impact
  • Quotes and video clips to support communication and understanding
  • Next steps shaped around your team and resources
